Gombe National Park is located in western Tanzania, along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. The nearest major city is Kigoma, which is accessible by air from Dar es Salaam or by train from Dar es Salaam or Tabora. From Kigoma, visitors can take a boat to reach the park, which usually takes about an hour.
The best time to visit Gombe National Park is during the dry season, from June to October when chimpanzee trekking is easier due to reduced vegetation and wildlife congregating around water sources. However, chimpanzees can be observed year-round, so the park is accessible throughout the year.
